New $150 Million Venture Fund Founded in Winston-Salem

A new venture capital firm called MetaCapita Venture Partners, based in Winston-Salem, has launched with a $150 million inaugural fund. Founded by a group of five managing directors, MetaCapita will focus its investments on companies that develop technology with applications for government users as well as private-sector customers. The firm’s "dual-use" investment strategy will take advantage of government sponsored research and grants.

Among the firm's founding managing partners are Bruce Bradley, a partner at Lancaster Group Holdings, in Potomac, Md. since 1989; Brad Walters, most recently a partner with Academy Funds; and Pete Fasciano, a co-founder of Avid Technology. MetaCapita has offices in Winston-Salem, Boston, and Washington, D.C.
